Women's Day began to mark in the world to commemorate the 8th ožujka 1908th when 15,000 women employed in the textile industry in New York protested demanding shorter hours, better pay, voting rights and the prohibition of work for children. Was a historic year in 1910. when a delegation of the Union of American women attending the Second International Conference socialist woman in Copenhagen with the intention to propose to the International Women's Day holiday. The Conference was attended by more than a hundred women from 17 countries and the suggestion of Clara Zetkin was unanimously adopted. 8th Day ožujka 1917th was taken as the day when it will be all over the world mark the day by recalling all the women who participated in the women's movements around the world and persevered in achieving women's rights.
